These pieces of spalted driftwood will used in some of my next batch of Pens
keep looking. |
 |
This
pot was made from
a piece of spalted wood bought from a car boot sale |
 |
 |
This small pot was made from my latest piece of drift- wood found only last
week on Whitby beach after some rough seas, no idea what it is but it was
very wet and dirty, and it looked like someone had been trying to set fire
to it at sometime, because it was badly scorched on one end. I got it back
to my workshop cut a piece off with my power saw, and then started to turn
the outside, and then brought in and put it in the microwave for about 20
minutes then left it two days in room temperature, and today just 7 days
after this is the end result. |

The driftwood above has been in my workshop for at least six months has now
been turned into the small shallow bowl on the right. The first three
pictures where the first stage of the turning, and the bottom two where the
final stage of turning, and then the polishing to finish. The Grey
areas are worm holes. |
